dear all ,
right now i am in a very confused situation.
i want to become a flight dispatcher. i have done my PPL Theory from Czech.
kindly help me to take up some correspondence course until the time i can join a flight dispatcher course (perhaps in EAC DXB).
if you know famous online/distant learning course providers for Meteo, navigation etc kindly help.
many Thanks

i like Emirates. but before going there, i would like to have a solid certificate in 3 subjects
meteorology
navigation
ATC
once i have them then i can join Emirates. but i am struggling to find a diploma which is a distant learning course and preferably from western countries.
Eumetcal Courses this one provide it but i am still waiting for access.
QAC has meteo, but it s not distant learning. so are my problems.
kindly advise how to solve this issue

Considering your actual course will cover the working knowledge you need to have, I assume you are only looking to get some basic insight into the areas you mentioned. I dont recall any dispatcher openings requesting specific certifications in these areas, but they may be a plus in demonstrating the knowledge you have.
With that in mind, you can go one of two ways in my opinion;
1. Between CAE and IATA, I would say go for IATA. Enroll in a distance learning IATA course. I dont think there are many on offer in Dubai, or inquire about a foundation course from Sheffield (US based). They offer online classes but I dont know if you can pay for just that portion or have to pay for the whole program.
2. If your objective is to gain knowledge without a certificate, do a bit of detective work and gain useful knowledge by scouring the internet.
For example, free aviation courses are available at:
- AOPA's Air Safety Foundation learning centerl
- FAA Safety Team website
You can also try searching slideshare and scribd for presentations other flight dispatch students may have prepared that could help you grasp the fundamentals.
Additionally, you can search youtube, theres a channel called "AirBoydTV" which has dozens if not hundreds of aviation training videos.
Last bit of advice: Emirates Flight Dispatch course does not include arrangements for practical training last I checked. Also, Jeppesen's curriculum is not recognized in some of the regions countries. Be careful, do your research, and ask questions before jumping in.
Good luck
