The Stealey-Wheelie, and those crosses...
Now that the intro-to-service date has arrived, heard from more than one of our local colleagues that the crosses on the new bags have not been universally appreciated. Refusal to use the bags even suggested as a result - high treason surely?! Either way, another blinding success story from the 'procurement team'....

It is neither, it is a Swiss Cross, as on the national flag of that rather hilly country. I suspect the local boys are just upset because they can no longer use their Porsche Design and Mont Blanc (isn't that Swiss as well?) cases. Maybe they could take the cross off and put a more suitable designer logo on instead?
Personally I think it is one of the worst designed flight cases I've ever used but I can't get too excited about it. I worry that our DSVPs should really have better things to concern themselves with than flight cases.

I agree. Its a piece of crap. Doesn't fit well into the gap beside the seat and is a nightmare to find anything in as a result. The last vestige of individuality has been taken away apart from our body shapes. Maybe they'll legislate for that as well.

Words almost fail me. I've just extracted this piece of shyte from it's plastic wrapper and taken it for a test run round the house. Its half as wide again as my personal piece of luggage, half as heavy again and before I pull stuff out of it I'll need a course in braille because the top doesn't open properly.
It's not a pilot bag and it's not fit for purpose. And it resembles something my 80 year old Noo-Noo takes out shopping.

It's that wide because it has 8 parallel compartments and dividers. It's got a tag on it with a picture of a young couple wearing jeans who seem to be going on a ski holiday. I think the suggestion is that they can get all their equipment into their trolley bags although they probably can't because half the available space is taken up with the dividers.

It's marvellous, I can get my entire family in it now that you can't get Cat C tickets. I even managed to spot a picture of it on-line:

Wasn't that Police-Box supposed to be small on the outside and big on the inside? What we've been handed is big on the outside and small on the inside. What a breakthrough in packaging and uselessness... I mean usefulness.

The wheelie is about the same cost as a reasonable tablet or headset, which adds more value to the operation?
Every time I "struggle" with my wheelie I think of him.
My life is just a bit more crappier for this, not a big deal but a constant reminder of the over managed trivia to avoid the big issues.

Five pages of whining about a flight bag wasn't enough for you people, you had to start another thread?
And as usual, no indication of airline in the title.

Time to kill so I looked up the swiss cross. It appears to be originally derived from the crucifix, as you'd expect.
It doesn't surprise me some of the xenophobes don't want to carry a bag with a cross on it.
Aug 01st at sign on and the spies from the lowest rungs of flight ops minions were observed hiding in the shadows making sure everyone was complying and taking names where they didn't. What a pathetic place this is sometimes.

Desdi, 100% spot on. Once again, the perfumed princes who dwell in the bouncy castle, who don't regularly fly, make decisions regarding their minions, that make no sense whatsoever and really have no concept of "line" flying. We are just their serfs.
