Runway closure & EK
Hello,
Does anyone know what is happening to the 330/340 fleet for May-July? Some of the FO's seem to believe our fleet will be grounded entirely, with the 777 and 380 picking up all of the flights, surely this can't be accurate?
If they are really going to have this many pilots with blank rosters will they revert to the favourite 'Can Use' days throughout each month?
Any ideas?
Thanks

As happened at British Airways some years back. There was a surplus of pilots for a while, as pilots are SEP trained, they can do a small differences course for the cabin and retain their pilot pay while operating as cabin crew!

The unofficial word was that all 330s are going to be grounded but officially we haven't heard squat. That shows you how much respect the company has for its pilots. However, on the CRS site I still see CCU as a layover for May but it is the only layover. They have a few India turns as well but I didn't look too deep. It'll probably be "can use" or RSV for most of us. Ugh...

Jack, LH did the same thing also but not limited to pilots - some Management even did a CC course and were seen serving pax. Not Richard Branson style I may add.
Can you imagine CC management or Flt ops management being crew

Having spoken to fleet, I can tell you as of a few days ago the plan was:
A330/343 - most of them will be parked up, very few operating
A345 - none operating
The 777 will be doing most of the turnarounds and 380 not affected too much.
It's going to be a very hectic time, I can see it being similar to those mornings when we're recovering from LVPs. I look forward to finally having a quiet roster and not having to fear seeing KBL on my roster.

I agree. Pairings say plenty of flying on the A330/340 fleet
And since when did fleet have any idea of a plan. Too busy worrying about people taking olive oil and pens off the jet. Big Picture Stuff!!!
