The basic issue of shirts was 5 shirts 12 years ago, did it change since then.

Great response guys.

Using your logic then why not have the company give us 3 shirts and you buy the rest?...Then you can pay all you want to have them laundered at the hotels.

Also, since you're so keen on company policy, you would know that Pacific Brands only want the uniform cleaned buy the company laundry since there are "special procedures involved...what ever they may be.

But really? I have to actually defend the position that 5 shirts is not enough?

I have to spell this out?....REALLY?

6 day trip = 4 shirts...that leaves one hanging in the closet at home if you started with all of them. Even if you went to the laundry on your return to DXB you still have to wait at least 2 days to get the 4 you dropped assuming they're even ready. Now...2 days later you go on a trip requiring 2 more shirts....so you either go to the laundry and pick up the 4 you dropped and take them all with you on your trip, or you use one shirt for two days, not a desirable choice either.

OR......(wait for it)

You could start with 8...yes I said it, eight (8) which covers all pairings and subsequent pairings. This "well we've done it this way for years" attitude is pretty limited and weak considering we weren't doing 92 hours years ago.

Is that so much to ask or will it bankrupt the company? Things are pretty tough you know....probably only make 5 billion this year...rough times.

No it didn't change. What has changed is the time that Butlers take to return the laundered items. They advertise 2 days, it states the time of return on the laundry slip. In the last 12 months I have never had my laundry returned on time by Butlers. So it may be that I don't have a uniform for my next duty.

I don't use them now. Either deliberately or through lack of planning the company are sidestepping their obligations again and that is the real issue here. It's nothing to do with washing our own shirts.

Gt, see your point. However this seems to be just one more drip in the bucket, one more straw on the camel's back, or like a nagging wife. At some point the constant nagging gets to you and even small little issues get blown out of proportion. Leave awards after bid closing, drip. Not getting entitled leave, drip. T and Cs not keeping up, drip. IT issues, drip. Lack of sensible rosters and fatigue, drip. Accommodation issues, drip. Etc,etc. and finally some inane issue pops up and BAM.......the nagging/drips can't be taken anymore.

Is it really about the opportunity to BUY an extra shirt or two? Now if we want to talk about the quality of other uniform items, that is also another drip. Seems the whole uniform, name badge and all was developed and thought up by cubicle dwellers and not with end users input. DRIP! But he PB people seem like nice folks.

I really don't see what people are upset about. We have always been able to purchase additional uniform items if we chose. It just took a while to make the same arrangement with PB.

Some might choose the convenience of a couple of extra shirts, others not. No one is being forced to buy anything.

I guess pilots are just not happy if they are not whining.

I can easily find how to wear, and where to buy uniform on the portal.

Anyone know where the info is to exchange or repair uniform?

Only been here 15 yrs + and cannot find any 'relevant' information on the portal, what does that say about;

a) Me

b) EK IT

c) What really matters

Oh yes I DID say that - nearly three weeks ago. Oh dear, it obviously got under your skin to get such a pompous comment thought out at great length. Take this as my sincere apology old chap, wot?

Good comeback by the way. Took you a while though, did your therapist help you with it?
