BMI?

Appears the BMI "police" is coming to America. Definitely lots of BMI 30+ pilots flying for US airlines!

http://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviat...dia/201304.pdf

I recall previous mention of BMI limits at ME and Asian airlines. I am curious to as what the pre-hire numbers are, and also if you lose your flight status at a certain point if you gain weight?

124,973 US airmen are considered obese

Let the political games begin...

AOPA to ask FAA to suspend implementation of new sleep apnea policy - Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association

"In 2011, the FAA identified 124,973 airmen who are considered obese, making them potential candidates for screening."

This will put a ton of pilots out of work in America. Time to slim down and lay off the catering. Oh wait, they dont have catering anymore. Time to lay off the cheeseburgers on the layovers then.

Cummon guys, we fatties know that every plane crash has the BMI of the PF right at the top of primary causes.

It was nothing to do with management skimping on parts and maintenance, no it was lard arse packing another cheeseburger. It wasn't the training department having a terrible culture, it was doh boy supping another root beer.

No wait.......or weight even

Yep….

I've seen guys at my airline smoke 1 plus packs of cigarettes a day! Do they get !!!!! from an EK doctor? Not at all. But a guy who's 2 kg's over a BMI is a threat to safety????? Goodness gracious!!

Guess I should start smoking!!!

K,

The EK docs implement the GCAA guidelines and rules.

They don't make the rules!
