Any further updates on this?

BBC News - Heathrow shut after Boeing Dreamliner 787 fire

Although, its too early say anything, and I certainly would not like to speculate on what took place, and how it happened(Atleast Boeing wouldn't know either(!) ) Its a pity that Boeing didnt fix that Electrical issue on the ANA Planes.

Containment as an option though may be a 'quick-fix' solution, it this certainly must not be ignored.

Heathrow shut after Boeing Dreamliner 787 fire

Runways at London's Heathrow airport have closed after an incident involving an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet.

Arrivals and departures were suspended after the incident at 16:30 BST, a spokesman for the airport said. No passengers were aboard at the time.

Fifty Dreamliners worldwide were grounded in January because of battery malfunctions.

Boeing later modified the jets with new batteries.

In April an Ethiopian Airlines Dreamliner - said to be the plane involved in the Heathrow incident - flew from Addis Ababa to Nairobi on the first commercial flight since the grounding.

Pictures of the Heathrow fire on Twitter show an aircraft close to a terminal building surrounded by fire vehicles. London Fire Brigade said its crews were standing by to assist Heathrow staff.

A Heathrow spokesman said: "We can confirm there has been an on-board internal fire involving an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft and the airport's emergency services are in attendance.

"The aircraft was parked on a remote parking stand. There were no passengers on board and there are no reported injuries at this time.

"Arrivals and departures are temporarily suspended while airport fire crews attend to this incident. This is a standard procedure if fire crews are occupied with an incident."

The Metropolitan Police said: "Police at Heathrow were alerted to a fire on a plane. Emergency services are in attendance.

"At this time it is believed no one was on board and there are no reports of any injuries. The fire is being treated as unexplained."

ANA Battery

The Boeing's battery fix option was to choose containment, or put the battery in a casing that arrests the spreading of fire and by means of the containment it suppresses any likelihood of the fire.

Whilst its clearly obvious that noon really did pick up or read the STC and the AD that followed the Fix, ignorance seems bliss in the Middle East.

I think its that desert sand mate.

Give me Wings | Any word from Qatar?; According to a QR lad who i bumped into, apparently Al Baker's stance was to keep flying till Boeing responds with a comment.

copy-paste from A.net;

The aircraft fire is unrelated to the batteries. This will be confirmed tomorrow in a boeing press conference. Fire is strongly believed to be as a result of galley overheat - failure of coffee heater trip switch which was left on.Burnt out much of the galley and area above causing deep damage to aft bh and rudder/elevator system. Aircraft sadly a write off - unless pride of hull loss/p.r dictates repair even if economically un-viable."
