Fast track command back at EK

20 F/O's on the 330 have been offered a fast track command with some being in the company just over a year. I gather all have the DEC requirements for EK but were hired before the current round of DEC hiring. This seems a sensible decision to use the guys we know.

A friend of mine is one of the 20 I have seen the email. He has 4000 hours PIC on the 320. He has been given 2 weeks to prepare for the interview!

I was told over a year ago that we don't do accelerated command because there is no policy in the OM-A. I guess the OM-A only applies to the workers and not the enforcers.

Emratty

I had 10 days notice including a PPC.
If I could do it, your friend should walk it

Good luck to them

If EK FO's could successfully "nurse around" incompetent DEC's in the past, they should be easily able to walk in for an interview today!

I don't exactly like the idea of queue jumping FOs .... but it's better than DECs. Better of 2 evils I guess, if EK needs more captains id rather they use our FOs- even the lower seniority guys rather than hiring DECs.

Ideal world there would be no jumping but this company changes its mind so fast its left hand starts looking like the right elbow. They now want 777 FO to move to the 380 ... what about the Airbus list

Good question Longlander... Can't wait to hear why this is 'different' to DEC's.

And if your claim of previous jet command is your argument, dont bother.
A couple of 'years' with some twobob LCC as a captain in your early twenties does not a better pilot make.

Flew with a couple of the guys recently. They pestered me for questions and scenarios.

Almost without exception every question posed resulted in manuals coming out to attempt an answer...

That said, good luck to them all!
