UAE FIR - "big dog" call sign.

Always pleasant to hear. Which airline or outfit is this! Also hear "gun shy" quite often.

I have heard them down Djibouti way. They said they were flying a Dornier (228?) when asked by ATC, so not such a big dog. Great callsign though.

Still makes me chuckle. I wonder if there's also a 'Top Dog'?

Big Dog: VR64 - it's a USN C130 squadron.

If you ask them the type on the R/T, you probably shouldn't be surprised if they tell you a load of BS especially around this part of the world.

Imagine getting your navy wings and then having to fly Hercs while everyone else is flying jets off the carriers - what a drag!

Not such a bad gig. Full per diem, not so on the boat. And remember when finished the flight, you go ACROSS the ramp to the O club.... Not below decks.

I've no doubt in the summer round here they're "Hot Dawg"!

Mind you, as Navy pilots they probably think they're the "Dawgs Bol Dangly Bits"!
.....sorry!
