UAE Domestic air services
Further to the recent forum re RAK and them who can not be mentioned, the expansion of Rotana and their domestic services both operators into Abu Dhabi.
I assume Rotana are not going to RAK, as RAK airways are already promising a domestic service to ABU, and being gentlemen one should be seen to be nice guys.
Rotana's services are timed to feed that other airlines international services. I trust baggage allowances will be matched too.
I was talking to a Fujairah based businessman last night, and he believes that there is a need for Fujairah / Abu Dhabi, but even the Ejet is too big and too expensive.
Plus the need is more to Bateen for government executives.
Discuss, the economics please....

economics simply don't make sense. I don't see them continuing this service for too long but I am sure there is a very happy consultant somewhere who advised them this would work and has made a good chunk of change.

do not mix LOGIC and AVIATION and ME
Many operations have started with vast cash resources behind them, without business plans, let alone thought out business plans.
There was some logic behind this service. I was involved in a similar project, that stalled as no funding could be guaranteed. The business plan was good, until the new highway(s) in UAE were opened. Then the need for speed was stalled.

This is stupid, the UAE is a small country a la Japan. Get the Japanese to put in a high speed rail and no two points in the country would be further than 30 minutes apart, it would take longer to fly.
I heard word that the GCC was planning high speed rail....but then again, they plan a lot of things, like giant Taj Mahal's with shopping malls inside. I don't understand this obsession with shopping malls, most of the shops don't even seem to be doing any meaningful business, people just walk around aimlessly, realize everything's too expensive and head for Lulu.

Mall owners get paid by a percentage as well as rent
The mall owners, charge a 3 tier fee....... ground rent.......percentage on sales.......plus a utilities contribution.
