Jeddah mishap

This evening an Iraqi B747-400 (?) knocked a winglet off after it hit the back of a Saudia (Air Atlanta) B747-300 during taxi.

The moving aircraft immediately blamed the stationary aircraft.

Won't get away with that excuse in Saudi!! If the captain of the Iraq 747 is not a Saudi then it is automatically his fault because if was not in the country the accident would not have happened.

as i recall, all of the ramp is video monitored and recorded. Some Ramadan afternoon more than 25 yrs ago a L-1011 bumped into the door mirror of the combo unit. The marshall kept telling the crew to continue forward and the engine nacelle bumped the side mirror and cracked it.
i was on the ramp that day and you would have thought that World War 3 began.
The only thing that proved the expat crew was not at fault was the video tapes.
Of course, nothing was mentioned anymore about the matter.

would be interesting to know is the Iraqi 400 is leased from Air Atlanta as well.

Iron Eagle, have you any justification to prove that this incident didn't happen?

There are a couple of photos on Alan Carter's FB page. I believe he once worked there.
So no longer a rumor!

It's not a rumor, the 744 captain is a new captain on the 747, the F/O too, the plane is X united airlines, bought back in late 2010, and it has been flown by Xpat pilots until recently they start to move the Iraqi pilots to fly it.
The captain has a big discussion with Jeddah ground control, but (sugar) happen some time and it did happened.
