Qatar still hiring DEC's?

I have heard how Qatar picked up 140 guys from Spanair. Does this mean they are not looking for DEC's anymore? Any info would be great.
Thanks

Best go to the online website and see the open jobs..I would suspect they will be hiring DEC's for the immediate future, given their fleet expansion plans, and shiny new aircraft delivery schedule..

If you do not get hired as a DEC, and are hired as an FO, what is the time to upgrade?

- Thanks,

FR

High Failure Rate

Over sixty of them failed the English Language Test..well they failed three years ago and QR thought they would be ready three years down the line,???!!! so all the plans in jeopardy..so answer is yes, they NEED DEC's ..if you like Sand, Sand, and lots of Sand...hurry and apply it takes six months to get interview, six months to get employment letter and if you lucky, six months to finish training....Bravo!!QR

MM

where the hell did you got that info???
6 month for an interview??? 6 month for the contract???
Man, even if that happened to you don't assume is like that for everyone...
For me was 3 months for the interview, 3 WEEKS for the good news, 4 WEEKS for the employment offer, 4 WEEKS for DOJ. From interview to join 6,5 months!!
And others were even faster, so don't share information as if its the only way things go at QR because it isn't!!

Hello @all!

I am considering to apply to Qatar as DEC. I was reading a lot already about pros and cons, I still hope anyone could answer the following question.

I am Non-Rated on the Bus. I would like to go to the ME, due to the well known issues in the EU. However I would appreciate to go to the major airline (not to be named here) in Abu Dhabi, to be closer to Dubai (I would take my family with me). Is any here who knows whether the Airline from Abu Dhabi will hire Non-Rated A320 DEC shortly? Also, anyone who could let me know, where the Roster for the A320 is better? Qatar or the Airline from Abu Dhabi?

Could you also highlight the difference of Ops Relationship btw. Managment and Pilots in both airlines (eg. Blame philosophy for go-around, taking extra fuel, filing reports... so basically everyday Opertion). The last question: I have a little cat, I would like to take with me as well. If I get a company villa, may I take the cat with me?

Thanx very much @all!

Oh sorry! One more important question. What about the philosophy regarding manual flying. I know most of the companies do not like it, but they accept / tolerate it as it is a rquired skill. I like to practice it (as far as possible on the Bus). Do not missunderstand me, I am not "Rambo", however if the WX is good, my F/O agrees as well I like to fly manually. Thanx for the answers
