It doesn't necessarily follow that the new US destinations will be done initially on the 787. The new aircraft may be used on current 777 routes freeing them up to do the US flights.

Reference the questions earlier about progression, there should be progression onto the widebody aircraft after your type freeze ends on the 320. The fleet mix will be heavily biased towards widebody aircraft - just look at the order book and go figure. The majority of new joiners do seem to be going on the airbus at the moment and there does appear to be movement onto other types.

Keep it coming guys!
This just what I was looking for.
Some very good stuff.
Let's hear more from guys actually doing it.
Captains?
Hopefully!
It's interesting because Black Pudding was the most enthusiastic QR pilot of this forum but it seems that he his facing a kind of hard reality
Vital information for futur 320 joiners

Off topic a bit but Iver mentioned the 787s to North America. Not going. Europe to start and then Asia. Aircraft have been pushed to August
More delays for everyone then?

Good to know. It's hard to imagine being stuck on the 320 in those circumtances.Maybe good for young fresh pilots but I beleive it can destroy you at a certain age?

Guys,

So we all appreciate it is a moveable goalpost, but would it be correct in assuming that the quickest fleet for command for a new joiner today would be the a320?

Estimate 3-4 years providing pass relevant sims, hours and checks? Although I guess its not helped by DEC, but hey they obviously need them!

Cheers

I would not use the word enthusiastic, I would say realist. Always have been and always will be. I simply say it as it is, take it or leave it. Never thought it would be a holiday here. Its a job

Yes lots of movement. Lots of e-mails of offer of fleet transfer for guys from the 320 fleet

Just remember, what the rule is today may not be the rule tomorrow.

Hi Black Pudding

Any thoughts on coping with the workload on the bus with a young family?

Thanks

@Black Pudding

So better to say: Young pilots whom want to join QR are enthusiastic, so thank you very much for your realistic point of view ,really, specially from someone who’s actually flying there.

I think that few people here are looking the long term opportunity with this airline wich seems to be logic as this one is expanding for the next decades, specially young aspirants.

So basically, it should be interesting if you or one of your co-worker tell us if a complete career is absolutely enjoyable with QR or totally unrealistic at this time and if it’s going to change as for the expansion plans. Family, balanced life between work and personnal activities,( pensions?yeah I know). It’s sound a little bit sad if the reality is resume to a “fly-sleep-fly-sleep” life which can be wonderful in the beginning but probably not after…Maybe the last sentence you stated here may give some hope?

Any Change?

I thought I would revive this thread just to see if anything has changed.
There has been a massive recruitment and a major influx of A320 rated pilots into QR.
how has this impacted on the workload / roster of the guys on the fleet.
It was said that the A320 would be the major source for the 787, but delays for that type might have had an impact too!

Is it any better now guys?
Cheers
Stig
