Lovely departure time out of DXB. Not surprising since a huge percentage of flights leave DXB in the wee hours of the morning.
How does one prepare for a 2:20AM departure (12 hour flight?) and maintain alertness? I guess that departure leg will be flown by the First Officer(s)... Sounds exhausting regardless of the fleet. Thank god for the crew bunks.
On a positive note, I have visited the Washington DC area in the Fall season (latter October time frame) and it is lovely - cool temperatures and beautiful changing leaf colours.

2.20am departure is fairly standard. That will be the 4th USA flight that leaves at that time.
The 14 hour flight to IAD will be a relative piece of cake. One crew gets on board and sleeps for 6 hours, a preferred pattern around here.. The operating crew, works for 6 hours, sleeps for 6 hours then lands the plane at about the same time their colleagues are arriving home after their 2 pilot, 3.00am India turn.
Haha beat me to it Geordie

Regardless of what all the self proclaimed airlines experts( Pilots ) say, EK is making a ton of cash with the 380. The wing issue is short lived and Airbus is paying for it.
Ive asked this before, " what A/C will do India when the 330 is gone". and they are leaving . The 777 is a great A/C and it also makes lots a cash, but it will be doing all the night turns.

And just what does your statement have to do with the Washington flight?
Nervous and doing some wishful thinking?
Concerning the layover, easy to guess, it will emulate the JFK night shift.

Do the stats.
100 B777's at the moment, many more to come along with 70+ A350's that won't be absolved from night turns. In contrast, losing 26 A330's that will hardly flood the quantity of night turns already on the B777.
Nice try but I'm not quivering in my boots.
