@ ex 380
EK stopped sending 380 FO's to the 330 and it will stop sending 330 Capt. to the 380, that is the whole idea of doing right to left on the 380, right now there is already a surplus of FO's on the 380, if those guys are good boys they will get a "Super" command.
I think it will pay off to wait a bit longer for the upgrade.

Bypass, you must be very young and healthy to live in a tube for 104hrs. I am on the 330 and flew 73hrs in March. The 330 works for me now that I am in my 50's.
Enjoy the cosmic tan.

And I'm BOTTOM bid in April - with 49 rostered hours and a week of RSV... Looks like a 'difficult month' all-in-all!!!!!

Glad I'm not on Seattle's 'finest'

I love to hear the EK pilots slam each other's fleet types. Most of us would give an appendage to someday fly either the A380 or the 777. Both amazing "career" airplanes with fly decks far more comfortable than the one I fly. Only the pilot of the A380 could refer to a 777 as an "uncomfortable Boeing box".

Keeping in the spirit of friendly banter, the 380 is known in the hallowed 777 halls by various names...

The "gay 180" a name that is allegedly well deserved.
The "V-gina" on the basis that it's as ugly as an ugly thing, and yet comfy inside.
And of course my favourite the "crack Ho" heavens only knows why.
There are of course many many more, some making reference to the Stephen Hawkins steering device, and others to its rather bulbous ungainliness, all the names merely reflect an opinion, nothing more

I will happily say that the 34-5 is the best looking of the AB stable, but IMO it doesn't come close to a 300ER, let alone the queen of the skies, the 744-now that is a majestic aircraft to watch lift off!

Anything needing a third main strut is an ugly mutant.

Nature would eliminate it by evolution, only human cross-subsidies keep it alive.

hahah this thread sums up EK dysfunction! "EK to Washington" and it's about which fleet sucks the most! Hilarious.

I do feel kind of sorry for the A380 FO's, trying to make the most of a tough situation...must be hard to watch the B777 guys who were hired on the same day, now as commanders, while they toil away for a couple of years...maybe...because EK always keeps their upgrade promises, right?! A command in hand is worth two in the bush, or whatever the saying is.

So I smile quietly when the talk of rosters comes up...while 96 hour rosters aren't always fun, I'll bet 100% of the B777 skippers would take it over a A330/340/380 right seat, for the options it gives them. For starters it makes the move to a contract that might get them HOME come even sooner in some cases. Even if not, the skipper pay is why people come, not roster. And IF the A380 actually one day has a critical mass of preferred routes, (assuming it's still commercially viable with it's endless maintenance issues, low dispatch reliability, fuel at $150/barrel, etc), why by then the Boeing guys would have the numbers to apply for the seat on the ugly thing. That's life, some are lucky, some aren't. Same everywhere.

But I get why the need to try to proclaim the "lifestyle" better. It's all they have in the "pro" column. That, and a rating that they can't take anywhere else. Oh yeah, and the super call sign. So try to cut them a break.
