What about Emirates???
Hi everybody,
I am thinking of applying to Emirates. I have more than required to meet their requirements, but I was wondering what the crews thought about how they are treated. Eg:
Annual leave - do you get it?
Staff travel - does it work?
Do you have a roster request system?
Do you have a day off request system?
Are your lay overs like everyone else's 24 hrs?
How many hours do you guys do in a month?
Duabai? I have been there many times, but what is it like to live there?
Thanking you in advance,
Colin Oskopi.

Hi,
Most of that info can be found on the Emirates Careers website, and specifics concerning layovers and Dubai living can be found in the Emirates (mrats) forum here on this website.

The Emirates forum is for EK staff only habibi.
Annual leave- Well they "try" and give you the legal minimum of 30 days. I only got 29 days allocated so far. No peak leave this year, though I did get it last year.
Staff Travel is OK. On busy routes to Australia and NZ it can be more problematic I believe. No jumpseats allowed.
Roster and days off are part of the bidding system. Depends on the fleet you are on and what bid priority you have. The company operates a rotating bidding system, so everyone gets a reasonable shot a what they want, through the 5 bidding groups.
Layovers depend on what the route is and the frequency operated. Sectors over 15 hours are 48 hour layovers, mostly.
Most Captains are doing 90+/month and F/Os a bit less, though this does vary by fleet.
