Eithad DEC's onto A320

Hello, I am a Captain with a UK airline flying the A320. I have just over 10,000 hours total time with 6500 hours PIC:

700 turboprop

5000 B733 & B737 (2500 PIC)

4000 A320 (All PIC)

I know there is a thread on the go, but it dates all the way back to 2005.

Does anybody out there know wether EY plan on hiring DEC's onto the A320 fleet in the very near future?

I also would like to know about lifestyle, accommodation, salary, bonuses, interview process, etc.

I have 3 children aged 6, 4 & 1. What is the education like for them?

It is a major move for me to leave a stable airline in the UK and move to the desert. I know once I leave there is no coming back in the near future.

Any advice and tips greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the reply AFD, I have seen that on the website. Just wondering if there is anyone in the know from EY that may be able to help answer my questions. I know they are not looking right now, but will they be very soon?

They are looking for DEC's onto the 777 with 500hrs PIC.

MD83, where do I apply? There is nothing mentioned on their website.

Runcorn,

I believe QR is also hiring DEC onto their A320 fleet. That said, you should look at the recent QR A320 roster post - an exhausting schedule on that fleet that probably would not benefit your family life.

I agree that EK is probably the best opportunity in the Gulf if you qualify. QR is also expanding (787s arriving in June and eventually A380s and A350s).

Good luck!

Thanks Iver, I have my heart set on the UAE, so I guess its Emirates or Etihad or me right now.

With your solid Airbus background and PIC time, I hope you have already started the application process to Emirates. From what I have read recently, they are hiring primarily on the A330 initially with transfer to the A340 and A380 in the subsequent years. It is a competitive process, but your A320 background should be of interest. Make sure you read previous posts about the pros/cons of living in Dubai, the culture at EK and flying the A330 fleet at EK - no suprise that nothing is perfect.

I have a friend who flies the A330 and (will be flying the A340 in the next 6 months) and he enjoys both Dubai and EK despite frequent long night roundtrips to India and back.

Again, good luck!

Already put in my application today. It is for the FO position but at least it gets the ball rolling. I wouldn't leave my current position for an FO job, it wouldn't be financially viable. DEC onto 330 is appealing though.
