Gulf Air Contract duration

Hello gents...

Quick question,

what Gulf Air generally offers?

temporary contracts with or without extension or permanent contracts to pilots?

Any comment or news are welcome.

The word 'Contract' is interpreted very loosely here. It is 'Permanent' which translates into 3 months notice in effect. You will also find that GF will ignore or change anything at will covered by the "Company Policy" clause. GF also claims that it is exempt from local employment law for expat Crews for whatever reason suits at that time. In other words the so called 'Contract' is entirely worthless. The same could be said for a number of companies around the world however in Bahrain you have no practical recourse to law period.

On a broader scale the company is in complete disarray at the moment. This is not unusual for GF but those of us who have been here for a while have never seen it so bad and hence the crew shortages and large numbers of resignations. Roster patterns and rules change with the wind and any sort of home life becomes very difficult due to continuous schedule changes that ignore days off, require you to work 7 days then 1 day of finishing at Mid-night then resuming in the morning following days off. Annual leave slots, although planned up to a year in advance, are ignored or unilaterally cancelled by the company with little or no notice. The list of gripes go on and on and are well documented in previous postings. This is not a happy place to be if you can find an alternative although one huge upside to GF is that in my long experience they have never missed a pay check which are always delivered on time or early.

Good luck.
