No pets allowed in HV, so it would mean AKG to start with. You can take the housing allowance and find your own place eventually though.

Think seriously about bringing a dog especially if its a large one - 50 degree celsius temperatures for 9 months of the year can make it very difficult in a country where pets are not welcome.

Pets are usually prohibited inside apartments, and with good reason. I certainly don't want any dogs in my building.

You better look for a villa somewhere, dude.

As I recall, they banned dogs from AKG and started moving families out that had them, over a year ago.

Anyone who brings a dog to that place is guilty of animal cruelty, I don't care how much they love them or how well behaved they are. You have to keep them indoors half the year because it's so hot, there's only a tiny piece of grass for them to take a s**t, even the good ones go crazy with boredom and loneliness and start barking all day and night.

Seriously, go and look at the place first and then decide how you would like it if you were a dog.

Cats in company accomodations

I'm on the talent pool waiting for a job offer / date of join (Boeing F/O).

I'd like to know in advance how is the policy for pets nowadays at QR company accommodations, like at AKG and others. We were told in the assessment day that new joiners will be placed in company accomodations and will have to wait for a while if they want to move out and take the house allowance.

I'll be moving to Qatar with my wife and our 2 cats and we're concerned if all company accomodations will allow us to bring them long. I've heard rumors that we may opt for a "pet friendly" accommodation, but would like to be sure about it.

Any clue on this? And I'm also looking forward on any clues about transporting my pets from Brazil to Qatar.

Thanks!

@BR Pilot -

The vast majority of company accommodation does not allow pets. They cannot guarantee availability of pet friendly housing.

Qatar has no general objection to bringing of pets such as dogs & cats as live animal cargo by expatriates. You will need to obtain an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture before bringing a pet into the country.

All pets must be registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture’s Veterinary Centre situated on Al Matar Street.

There are a number of standard breeds of dogs and cats that are banned from import to Qatar. The Doha Veterinary Clinic is a good source of information about banned breeds and about the process of importing your pets from abroad.
