Airlines apply the ID discounts in different ways. Normally the base fare is discounted by the percentage indicated. Sometimes the discount will only apply to the full economy fare, other airlines will discount lower yield fares.

Taxes will normally be charged at full rates, and the surcharges are handled according to each carrier's policy.

Your staff travel department should be able to give you the information, or if you have access to airline's Fare Quote system you should be able to calculate the fare using the appropriate discount code such as ID90N2.

There are restrictions on travel dates, and travel is, or may be, subject to load. You can be denied boarding or offloaded at the last minute, and again, dependent on your airline's policy, you can be offloaded at an intermediate stop if there is weight restriction or commercial passengers wanting to board.

I do not know what EK's policy is so the foregoing is general only and should not be taken as gospel!

Put another way
You pay 10% for a standbye ticket and 50% for a confirmed ticket for you and your immediate family.

I think he wants to know 10% or 50% of what? The way the discount is applied is not consistent.

You pay 10% (ID90) or 50%(ID50) of the full fare before tax or surcharges. The full amount of tax (ie based on the full fare) and surcharges is then added to what you pay. For the UK this is by far the most expensive part of the ticket.

Note these are standby tickets- there is no certainty of getting on any particular flight if it is full of commercial passengers. I see you are in Bangalore. Flights to and from India are often overbooked and depart full.

Other than that it is a good way to see the world if you are flexible about travel dates.

If the FULL FARE (No discounts at all) is 500AED the Cat A Ticket (90%) is 50 AED and the Cat C (50%) is 250 AED. This is what the company charges. THEN add taxes.

THEN add taxes.

EK don't apply fuel surcharges separately, they do the honest thing and it's part of the base fare. So here's an example

On a DXB BLR
AED 3200.00 base fare
AED 75.00AE - tax
AED 90.00IN - tax
AED 30.00WO - tax
AED 5.00TP - tax
AED 3400.00 - total

The ID 90 would cost you AED 320 plus AED 200 tax total = 520 - a huge saving! (edit corrected my **** maths! Note to self, use calculator next time)

On a London ticket where the taxes are higher it would be :

AED 8200.00 base fare
AED 75.00AE tax
AED 350.00GB tax
AED 180.00UB tax
AED 5.00TP tax
AED 8810.00 total

ID90 would cost 820 AED + 610 = 1430.

Yes, but it's not rocket science and I'm happy to share my knowledge. By the way the figures I've given are real values, not fictitious.

Remarkable patience Cape. Well done.

Urban Dictionary: EGIT

For good reason it would appear.
