Flying the 777 with EK with experience on the 320 only

Hi,

I was wondering if EK is often offering positions on the 777 to F/O with experience on Airbus only?

I have 4000h on the 320 and I would be glad to fly the 777.

Is the step high if you come from the 320?

How many simulators sessions do you get in that case?

How many legs do you fly during the line training?

There is a tendency to assign Airbus experienced guys to the AB fleet and Boeing experienced guys to the 777, but it all depends on availablility, and you may well get the 777 with A320 only experience (and, IMHO, it is still the best fleet though that may change).

The course is the same regardless of experience (you'll do the same course even if you have a 777 rating).

3 weeks ground school, 10 IPT/FBS sesions, 9 full flight sims, minimum of 8 sectors (usually more) line training, plus various checks.

There IS a facility to do short course (I did it) for Boeing EFIS experienced pilots, but it is not currently being used.

Thanks for your reply... 8 sectors of line training is a minimum you said but who decide how many sectors you'll fly? Is there a standard depending on your experience?

depends on the availability.

one year ago they sent lots of guys with only airbus experience to the 777. nowadays I think they prefer to send the airbus experienced guys to the 330, however I have heard of some cases of guys not accepting the job offer into the 330, and due to the big need of pilots, emirates changed the job offer into a spot in the 777. Quite risky, specially if you really need the job.

there are 10 base training sessions (mftd), 10 full sim sessions, the exam, low vis session, left seat qualification session, zero flight time (touch'n goes), and then you go to the line. 10 "training" sectors, 2 sectors for the line release check, and two more for the annual line check. (a scheduled flight with a regular line captain, but a TRE seated on the jump seat).
4 months from the joining date, to the annual line check.

hope it helps
