Reminds me of sitting at holding point in Melbouren one morning. An Air China 747 was instructed to go-around due to traffic on the crossing runway three times, each call was acknowledged, but the aircraft just kept on trucking down the approach, eventually calling the Tower and saying "Confirm crear lo Rand?"

I take it from the article, the Chinese aircraft was ordered ro go around to make way for the Qatari- and from what I've seen, Chinese don't DO go-arounds!!

Another news coverage

If that was true, I sure hope the selfish and unprofessional Juneyao driver gets all the reprimand. Though I won't hold my breath, knowing how well they take care of their own kind.

When someone is declaring Mayday, how hard it is for any professional pilot to give the benefit of doubt and assist in any way we possibly can?

Having literally no good understanding of English language is not an excuse, moreover, ATC would have conveyed the message to him in Chinese.

Another disgusting behavior, after the horrific high speed train accident and initial attempt to cover up.

neither "pan-Pan" nor "Mayday" rang a bell with Mumbai radio either, "NEGATIVE, MAINTAIN YOUR LEV(W)EL" was the given response...
