Moving from Qatar to Etihad

Thinking of applying to the other side of the sea, Both are neighbours, very same laws in both countries, weather, etc however UAE is known to offer much wider choice for expats in quality of life. On the contrary from what I heard and see, Qatar is much more ahead in destinations, fleet expansion, quality of rostering, and pretty much the same in salary with the latest increment.

Looking for advice and/or opinions from those who made the change. I believe quite many.
Preferably from someone same situation as me, F.O single, widebody rated.

Was the move worth it?
Overall difference between how you feel in both companies?
Living in Abu dhabi/Dubai? how does your life differ from when you lived in Doha.
Upgrade prospects compared to QTR..

Thank you.

Can't offer anything in regards to flying ( I serve the tea and coffee down the back)

But having lived in Abu Dhabi then Doha you can not compare the 2. I had a MUCH better quality of life in Abu Dhabi.

Eating out and drinking cheaper in UAE and MUCH more variety. I really miss sitting out side in the beer garden in the cooler months.

Groceries cheaper in Abu Dhabi. Pork and booze readily available. You have your choice of booze shops and can bring in duty free.

Nicer beaches.

Traffic better in Abu Dhabi.

If you have a wife things are MUCH more relaxed for women.

Strat.

Very insightful post! Those facts have been obvious for a long time. It is my hope that many come to the ME from all over the world to experience the unprecedented growth in this region and to take advantage of the endless advantages.

I submit to all who are considering career opportunities in the ME to do so disregarding any comments posted here which may be less than optimal.

The enlightened need no guidance.
