It is not EK. EAC and Emirates are not the same, just like BAA and BA. This is not a selected programme and the output will not be taken by EK. Do not be confused! There is an Emirates bank, Emirates Golf Club etc etc.

Errrr, yes they are mate!

EAC is a joint venture between EK Flight Training and CAE of Canada.

You do not get an EK staff number, they are part of the group just like Costa or Arabian Adventures and they don't lead to a RHS with EK. You are right tho, BA /BAA analogy was bollocks probably should have talked about Virgin's Music store instead. The important thing is that ant takers realise EK are not going to take them out of that course!

It has nothing to do with EK, EAC is a part of Emirates group.

Clearly graduates from this won't qualify to even apply to Emirates under the current criteria. Is there even the suggestion they will be considered for some kind of Second officer type scheme?

Not sure Wiz, but I heard that "EK Cadets to FlyDubai" scheme is back on. First 4 to start in August. That could be an option for anyone with 600,000 AED to blow!

Talk about buying a job?
That's way more money than I ever had to invest on my flight training.

Job prospects?

Hello there,

Can anyone provide any insights into the sort of job prospects for individuals completing the fATPL course with Emirates Aviation College? I know that they are not guaranteeing jobs with Emirates Airline, as I understand Emirates asks for at least 4,000 hours of flying time for the position of a First Officer.

Thanks in advance.

4000 min for what? Min's now are 2500, of course dependent on aircraft type. You can even apply if you don't have the twenty five, but will shortly. Pilots arriving from Ryan and Easy with 2500 total......fact. Web site still says 4000, but they must be making exceptions for the above pilots.

Min 4000 hrs , there are exceptions 2500 hr of modern jet (read 320/73ng ) hence easy/ryan. As of right now there is no shortage of app's, but soon they will annouce they are very short of pilots not app's.500 pilots per year for a few years to come.

drc,

That question will depend a lot on who you are and where you are entitled to work.

If you are a national of a GCC state, or similar state with a state-owned airline, it would likely get you a job as most of them have a policy of hiring Locals.

If you are entitled to work in the EU, it may get you a job with a second-level operator, or as FO on a Turbo-prop.

If neither of these are tru, the qualification seems pretty useless, as most Airlines that accept pilots with low experience do so through their own, in house or approve third pary cadet schemes.

There are much cheaper ways to get a qualification, which are much more likely to get you the elusive first job.

Hi Wizofoz,

That's very useful - thank you very much.

I wouldn't fall in any of the categories you have mentioned. I am looking at various options, including the MPL offered by Alpha Aviation in Sharjah. Seems like a good course, given their partnership with Air Arabia.

Thanks again.
