Quality of life in the UAE

The UAE has been listed below countries such as Colombia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Mongolia, Swaziland, Azerbaijan and North Korea in terms of quality of life, according to a new list compiled by a magazine specialising in moving overseas.International Living magazine’s 2010 Quality of Life Index ranks 194 countries in terms of their quality of living and ranked the UAE 141st, just below Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and North Korea.

Sheikmyarse

You're begining to make 411A seem acceptable on these forums. Look my friend, why don't you do us all a huge favour and actually tell us what axe you have to grind. Do you still live and work here in Dubai or the UAE or have you moved to greener pastures?

If it's the former, stop whinging and either shut up or clear off.

If it's the latter, you were probably fired, hence your anger and bitterness.

Either way, you're one hell of a sad individual who's about to have the honour of being the first on my ignore list.

Right that's settled then, I'm moving to Kenya!

I mean think about it, I've just arrived in my air conditioned villa near the beach, having got here in my $90,000 car from having lunch in a nice Italian restaurant with some mates where we were discussing what time to go out fishing on the boat and whether or not to take the kids along who have just arrived home from their top quality school. (on second thoughts I'll just let them sit down in front of the new 63" Plasma with the PS3 and let the maid look after them!).

Yes indeed, life in Azerbaijan must be f@cking great if its better than mine!!

What a crock of sh1t Sheiky and you well know it!

My lifestyle in the UK was cr@p compared to here, so therefore according to that definitive 'accurate' report, the UK should be down at 200 surely?

Put a sock in it or spill the beans on why you were fired

Looks like I touched and uncovered nerve....
I just reported the result of a survey of an Irish news magazine. Nothing personal. It is not really just based on material things..but you know..stuff like legal system, freedom of expression, social security..But lucky you mate.. a villa on the beach, a 90000$ car, fishing with friends...amazing.. wow!
Pretty good for a slave.

This story is dated 10 January 2010 - why are you starting threads about a story that is a year old?

Interesting to read the threads below the article......

On a more serious note, I need a bit of advice from the real professionals out there, the guys and gals that work and live in Dubai. Busy negotiating a position and need all the inputs I can get. Air Charter International; Jet Ops; Seawings...... And the real stuff on living in Dubai Pleeeese

The quality of life an EK pilot enjoys in his company-supplied villa/apartment is on a whole different page to the quality of life "enjoyed" by an Indian construction worker "living" in his company-supplied pre-fab dormitory at a far distant work camp.

I suspect the Irish report might have factored the Indian construction worker or the Filipina shopgirl working a split shift in some Karama store into its equation to come up with the result it did.

UAE is what it is if you want to live here. It is also what you make of it and one's need to continue having "bread on the table".
Comparisons, surveys? It is all a matter who the paymaster is, the audience and the purpose of it.
Dubai is climbing down from the 2006/7 heights of a large city with loads of infra-structural problems and will be gaining its own entity. The heat is not on Abu Dhabi. I feel good here, specially during the "local Winter".

I suspect that quality of life out here is largely related to disposable income. For example, a Bangladeshi construction worker will have a rather lower quality of life than an EK pilot.

I see that the survey rated the UAE below North Korea - but at least here there is food in the shops.

Another one on the ignore list

Guys, if you don't like sheikhmyarse's postings, just put him on your ignore list. Works wonders, and you don't have to get your blood pressure up answering his troll postings.
