No more Costa discount!!!
Well here we are with another stupid cut back from Emirates the tight gits.
Went in to Costa at Silicon, showed my EPC card to be told no discount!!!
You now have to have a Platinum card, puchased from Emirats of course.
What ever next from this pathetic company

No more discount, no more Costa. Simple.
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has better coffee anyway and the EPC discount. Doesn't help at EGHQ but usually a lineup a mile long anyway at peak times.
The EK Platinum card is a complete ripoff, thankfully I heeded my instincts and threw their promotional material where it belongs, in the trash.

I find the Platinum card a good value for money. 25 dhs a month for 2 cards and a lot of discounts! You don't need to choose one, you can have both (Platinum and EPC). I still can afford a coffee without discount!

yup yup and I can afford a Porsche but I don't own one...that isn't the point...and I did have a good look at the Platinum program, perhaps it's different for families but for singles the discounts are generally about half that of comparable EPC deals and always have all kinds of conditions attached.
Not keen to pay a monthly fee to my employer so that I can get 5% off my second entree on the third Thursday of every other month (beverages not included, limit 2 people, between the hours of 6-7:30pm).
And yes it is indicative of what lengths will be gone to grab back two fils....

No discount here, EK Platinum or EPC, but it's a nice place recently pointed out to me by a friend:
Esquires Coffee on Beach Road. Right beside Sizzlers, roughly between Chili's and Town Centre Mall.
Decent place.

The point is---PENNIES matter!!!! They matter enough for them to get rid of the discount!!!
The worrying trend is that everything is going this way and cuts are being made everywhere- always to OUR detriment. 5% here, 10% there all add up very quickly and it will only get worse as the companies in Dubai, who have been used to 40%, 70%, 100% returns look to keep the money coming in.
In the end WE will pay for it.

Its simple if you don't like it, take your business elsewhere. Anybody that likes their coffee won't be seen dead in COSTA, any decent coffee shop would not put milk in first then pour the coffee in to make a latte, I was once told by a COSTA employee that if you put the coffee in first then the milk that is a cappucino
