What I don't understand is why so many people come to the UAE to work and totally fail to research the culture beforehand. Yes this is a Muslim country and I can't imagine what kind of 'beating' leaves no mark. Take a look at the Koran. Check the facts. Then make your no doubt valid comments.

Perhaps knocking the 'local' community is not so wise. Serious wife beating goes on, I'm sure, even in your more 'civilized' community. It certainly goes on in mine and believe me there's nothing civilized about it. You sound like a missionary
