LH at RUH/OERK

Something going on at RUH/OERK due to a LH aircraft arrived with an engine fire...

Yes, we've just heard that the aircraft (cargo) was lost to the ensuing fire. No info so far on the fate of the crew.

Fast response, boys. It was breaking news 3 minutes ago on CNN. Could anyone else elaborate on this story? All I heard was Lufthansa's involvement.

Like I said in another forum, I landed at about 0800z and all was quiet. Timing is everything.

Since 33R is closed for routine maintenance, I wonder how many diverts are happening?

Only time you have too much gas is when you are on fire, which seems to be the case for LH. I hope they are OK.

Happy to hear that the crew survived.

Sounds like the flight had departed Riyadh earlier en-route to Frankfurt and returned with an on-board fire. Sounds like they were, considering the situation, were quite fortunate. They don't have much time!

Maybe not Jack....post number 16 refers to a LH release.....ex Frankfurt to Ruh.

An eye witness reported that high bounce and hard landing was the main reason for the MD11 Lufthansa cargo crash …..QR watchout
