Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Sorry Tamer but nothing in Dubai is reasonably priced and try living aboard when the air and water temps are 45 degrees!

You would have to have the boat completely covered by a fly sheet arrangement to absorb direct sunlight , a/c on 24/7 , you would end up hating your lovely boat in no time !!
Hell for the summer , great for the 'winter'.

Have a look at Chelsea Tower on SZR (Financial Center Metro station - Shangri La side). A friend of mine rents a 2 beds for about 12,000dhs a month, has been there 6 months and love it. The facilities & service is good. The accomodation is not very big but he does not have any children so for him and wife it's quite adequate. It is also furnished to good standard.

Unless your budget covers you living aboard a substantial floating Gin Palace(?), for all the reasons stated above, you should forget all about living on a boat.

For more land-based ideas see: Dubizzle.com - Dubai - Property for Rent

On the assumption that you're not familiar with Dubai, to assist you with your search and on assuming that you might want to be adjacent / close / close'ish to the sea, you might consider the following for your 'Location(s)' criteria when searching:
  • Jumeirah
  • Palm Jumeirah
  • Jumeirah Lakes Towers
  • Jumeirah Beach Residence
  • Dubai Marina
  • Media City
  • The Greens & The Views
  • Tecom <-- awash with self-catering serviced apartments
There are almost certainly others which might 'float your boat' too.

Hope this helps,

OKC

Ps. and this site might also help you too: http://www.propertyfinder.ae/index.p...ultats&prop2=1

Tamer,
I stayed in a fully serviced 2 bedroom apartment in the Dubai Marina it cost me 13000Dhs a month fully serviced, no hassle.

I used a company called PK rent.

Hope this is of use.

Thanks for the replies.

The heat won't be a problem as I will only be there during cool months.

Haven't heard about the Tecom area, is it ok ?

Springbock have looked at Dubai Marina and internet prices are much higher, do you have to sign a 12 month contract to negotiate that price or was that paying on a monthly basis ?

Halas, how much for the Dhow , seriously I don't think the budget would stretch, but I would be interested in knowing where he moors it, and from anyone else doing the same thing.

Thanks again for all the replies.

Cheers

Hi Tamer,

No 12 months contract needed, I found the flat on Dubai Property Real Estate for Sale and Rent. Jobs in Dubai, Classifieds in Dubai with Dubizzle.com

As I said it was through a Company called PK rent, I will look up the details of the person I dealt with and forward it to you.

I just took the flat on a weekly basis whilst waiting for my furniture to arrive.
