How safe is Iraq for a UN chopper engineer ?
I Know of some jobs coming up in Iraq as an engineer on helicopters for a UN contract and was interested in how safe (or unsafe) it would be?
Im not sure of any other details at this stage, but would like to have a look over there.
Iv Never been to Iraq before so any info from people that have would be great..

I've only ever been there as a hostage .......
Anecdotally, it's not too bad up north in the Kurdish area around Erbil.
Pretty iffy in the middle.
Dunno how safe it is round Basrah etc in the south. Someone will know

Hi Sordfish,
I second what Dubain has written. The north is relatively safe. If you are around the American bases, again pretty safe. There are lots of Oil and Gas companies opening operations in the South. So, lots of armed guards and security companies (Olive Group and Control Risks) Trust NOBODY and I hope this will work out for you. Best of luck, buddy
