More on this at Flight International:

Emirates ponders resurrection of stalled Airbus widebody order

I hadn't been aware that the new airport had been pushed back; anyone know the new likely opening date?

Basically, as well as new A330-300s, the airline is also looking at changing the ratio of A350 orders, to include more of the -1000 models. (For reference, the A350-1000 is 240' long, a smidgin shorter than the 773/W, which is 242'4", although the 777 is considerably wider).

JXB = 2012 earliest for EK pax operations. (I would even think 2014 is more realistic.)

The real mind screw is the fact that we are taking 22 new aircraft between this and next April, and yet we have only just started recruiting again!

Me thinks we are in for a rougher ride roster wise than anyone can imagine...... Buckle up tight boys and girls, its gonna be horrid!!

And pilots are still leaving with many more CVs being prepared.

If they don't reverse the steep decline in anything resembling Ts & Cs they'll have a lot of parking problems.

(...although the 777 is considerably wider).
The 350 will be only 23 cm less wide... 5,97 m vs. 6,2...

I would like to hold the horse to his word when during the "Commanders Conference" he stated that all other departments in the company were going to be held to a higher standard like the pilots. Who should swing for this desparately awful management of human resources? Perhaps Ed could make this his swansong. He's got nothing to lose since he's already been pushed out. Come on Ed grow at set!

Picked up a rumour from a rather reliable source that EK is looking into starting an A320 fleet as well as a feeder network from its intra gulf and sub-continent destinations.

Anybody any insight in that?
