Al Ain International Aviation Academy
Has anyone heard anything about this school? It appears to be new. I'm also looking for information on Al Ain in general. Anyone here live there?

I've seen that already. I've looked at a few sites on Al Ain in general but I am looking for comments from people who live in Al Ain. Trying to get a feel for how things are there.

any contact where i can apply for flight instructor job? already have a well paid flight instructor job but have some personal reason to move to Al Ain in particular.

just registered with Horizon, i would say pretty expensive school, JAR .
guys this is 172 Sp G1000 worth the money, ill do my first paper exam on August.
generally i spoke to Catherine over there , she said they just brought 4 more instructors just to do PPl, the issue was so many students at the a academy less instructors..soon they'll open the new branch in um Al quwain not sure when.. no more info but what ever difficulties that ill have at the academy ill post it here...
but ill fight to get my PPL no matter how hard is it...

Mike.Part thire system complies with JAR Standards
An FTO is either approved by one of the JAA authorities or it is not. There is no middle ground.

Mike park, i would say there are three things that made me to choose Horizon over any FTO in UAE,
first The academy follows a Jar syllabus, courses & the curriculm is approved by GCAA, while other do FAA in UAE where i live.. am doing ground school now with AFE books thats been given by Horizon.
2: Horizon well knowen in UAE that they have the best instroctors hired for the buissnes . as far as i heard.
reason 3 is piloting the glass cockpit G1000 Cessna..

What are you hoping to do with the qualification once you have it? If you intend to fly in a JAR state, you will have a VERY long and difficult convertion to do.

.. and if you plan on living in Al-Ain and piloting a Cessna with G1000 (or any other glass cockpit aircraft) for the rest of your life, then I guess it's ok to be with Horizon. Otherwise, your PPL is going to be one costly affair with training in an aircraft that won't be helpful if you move to different region/aircraft with conventional dials. So it all depends on what you are looking for at the end of the deal. Personally, I wouldn't advice anyone to skip basics and jump into glass cockpit for training unless if enrolled in an MPL course and going for an airline. Even then, knowledge and training with basic instruments is a must.

I dont think Horizon is going to need alot of instructors in near future as most of their studetns are EY cadets and it looks like EY have second thoughts about their cadet program.
