True Lies

Are you a First Officer at Emirates? Are you concerned that your upgrade to the left seat could be or has been delayed by Direct Entry Captains? Maybe you're an Airbus Captain looking to move to the Boeing and you think your transfers been delayed by those same DECs.

Well, no worries. There are no DECs at Emirates. Never have been and apparently never will be. EK has a strict rule that all flightdeck crew join as First Officers, doesn't matter how many hours they have, they join as F/Os.

This extract from FlightGlobal:

Despite the glut of available pilots, Emirates will not relax its strict rule that, no matter how many flying hours a recruit has notched up, everyone joining the flightdeck does so as a first officer. "We never rule these things out, but we don't anticipate taking anyone on directly as a captain," says Stealey. However, promotion to captain tends to be rapid for candidates with the experience and ability.

I guess no one thought it was worth mentioning in the article that the Gym is for VP's and above only. Smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors! However it does let you know very clearly the calibre of the managers at EK

I'm not EK, but when I read the Flight International Interview I almost spat my coffee out. I have been watching Emirates and PPRUNE with great interest as I do want to make the move.
I have relied on PPRUNE for the CON side of the argument. HOWEVER, mismanagement are now doing a better job than the disgruntled guys on here. The latest quote just shows the disrespect for pilots that follows through EK by mismanagement. Do they really think that us pilot prospective pilots haven't heard of EKs DEC? Now I have gone off EK.

SERIOUSLY EK MANAGEMENT HOW DIM YOU REALLY THINK WE ARE???

There have been several occasions, witnessed by many of us, where HRH TCAS has stated when asked about DECs that:

'He reserves the right to personally employ DECs'. What he also deserves is is title TCAS.

It would not have happened at BA yet here he is passing over well qualified SFOs.

Liar doesn't come close to the dwarfs real colors.
