Flying into Dubai
Hey all,
One of my pilot friend will be flying into Dubai for the first time. He flies a Hawker 900 xp for a corporate in India. Any heads up on what holds to expect or any tips about coming into Dubai will be deeply appreciated!

If there is any weather at all count on at least 30 min in the hold..or longer if its during peak flow. Also if they are coming in during morning departures or midnight arrivals count on the same. Other than that its pretty straight forward.

Dubai
The controllers are excellent, might vector him around a bit, speed him up, slow him down, but real pro's. They do not want you to spend much time on the runway, so make sure he has an idea of where he will park, and what exit he needs from the runway. Sometimes with the corporate stuff , they want you to turn off as soon as you are able.

The fun is on the ground
The taxi ways and runway crossing points are slightly confusing. Make certain you have a detailed taxi chart, plus airport layout in hard copy, or PlainView.
You might get the Flower parking , aka, long term parking, which is the pits if you have pax. (yes it does happen).
Jet are good, (please) call them well in advance. For best VVIP passenger handling Executive Flight Services, have the best terminal, and being "locals" normally have no problem with pax drop off at the terminal, then perhaps tow, or taxi to long term parking.
Parking on E xx is always very very tight, a push back is mandatory, so you will be parked VERY nose in.
After landing expect perhaps one hour to complete the formalities, passports, visa stamps, gen decs etc, etc.
Hotels are very close, if a short stay, try to get a hotel nearer to the Terminal 2 side of the airport. If staying more than short night then go down town, many crews use Marriott, or Renaissance, good for crews, many friends in lounge, and close to any evening entertainment you might enjoy.
If very short night, the hotel in Terminal 1 is excelent. Le Meridian is very nice, crew friendly, very close to Terminal 1, excellent music, and food on site in the village.
In general DXB is a "nice" airport, busy between 2300 and 0400, holding can be expected, entry to the UAE FIR requires to be a certain level, perhaps 240 or 280.
As an alternate you might consider OMRK, very nice empty airport 1 hrs drive north, full ILS, and easy to operate in.
Abu Dhabi, is also a good alternate, as is Al Ain, (further away, but not normally getting the Dubai FOG).......keed the wx in mind, the fog will disperse all traffic all over the UAE away from DXB.
Prefered landings 12L, and 30L.

Thanks much for all the answers. I was flying out of Dubai for a while, but it was purely vfr. So didnt know much about IFR operations. You Know those small pipers doing short approaches in front of guys on 4 mile finals...was one of them.

EFS v JET v EXECUJET
Given the free choice I would use EFS, for termianal facility, EXECUJET are a better "handler" I agree, and JET are perhaps the best, but for the best passenger experience EFS win every time.
Perhaps I just prefer the 24hr Thai service.

Hi I fly into dxb about three times a month. Nothing hard about the flight, only thing to watch out is the volume of traffic. If you follow exactly what the controllers say then you will have no problems. Expect all of different headings, speeds and altitude restriction. When we fly we go from muscat control to UAE control to approach to tower and ground. But be careful
if you dont follow the controllers instruction religiously they will take you out of sequence, luckily never happened to me, but once a night i hear it happening to someone else. But standard radar vectors to the ILS.
