C'mon LR 3. Jobs are a lot tougher to find than wives. Only a dozen or so good jobs out there right now. Of course I like what we have recently heard. "This economy is a lot worse than a divorce. I have lost half of my wealth and still have my wife".

Don't worry LR3, it was a rhetorical question

Hopefully we will hear some full truth on the 6th. I do think that just the calling of the meeting shows how seriously some of the managers are taking the problem. Of course, it may be just to tell us all to wind our necks in, but somehow I think not.

Just RSVP'd for the meeting with Accomodation on the 6th. According to many a good source, "the Emirates Wives" will be there in full force and ready to vent their frustrations to the managment ! After all, they are the ones this whole mess has really been affecting, and they are the ones (rightfully so) who are coming to say enough is enough ! I completely agree and am ready to say "hey, this was promised, this was in the contract. We have fulfilled everything and more required of us, - and you have fulfilled nothing ! This is what we want done ! If you have to rent villas on The Palm Jumeira, do it ! We will no longer have our children on the 22nd floor of "The Green Lakes" with no where to play, no where to run, no where to shop - unless an hour and a half in traffic is your idea of running to the supermarket ! Our temporary accomodation was fine for the first 2 months, now - it is becoming a nightmare ! Something will be done - or something will be done ! Looking forward to the meeting.

Although the situation is intolerable and you certainly have a right to complain, having the "wives" speak for you, is just a REALLY, REALLY bad idea. Perhaps you should ask around about a little EK folklore and history. This road has been travelled before without a happy ending.

If that is true, what would that help? We've already given up our homes in our home countries, we have organised our kids in schools, our wives have given up jobs (and some have taken up new jobs here), we have already made one move. Such an offer would help maybe 40% of the guys, of whom some may never return!

If they were prepared to make those basing permanent....great. Is that going to happen.?...No.

Has anybody else noticed how negative you feel after an all-nighter? Grumble, mumble, moan

Hey Bus Canuck,
Nobody said "the wives" would be speaking for us - they will be speaking "with us". The families have been invited to the meeting too, not just the pilots. After all, we are not all here alone ! Everyone should have a chance to vent their frustrations and/or concerns. This does not just affect the pilot - it more affects the pilot's family. So, not sure what bad things happened in the past, but do know that the bad things happening right now will not be tolerated any longer. Im not saying that everyone stuck in temp accom is out for blood, or is going to demand absoulutes, but instead offer advice, reccomend's, and input as to what changes can be made to keep most happy - or at least content - until such time as permanent and suitable accomdations are presented.
