Qatar Airways in a bid for Olympic Airways

Just been all over the news here in Greece that Qatar Airways is in hot talks with the Greek government to acquire the ailing Olympic Airways and use ATH Venizelos as a hub, incidently; the Greek prime minister will be meeting Qatari officials by end of next month in Doha, and probably will be the icing on the cake for the end of this saga!!!!!

Any info from across the MidEast????

just imagine AAB ,trying to manage OLYMPIC unions!! he he! yesterday the unions blocked the runway for start! They should make the move forward cause that is the only solution for them but QATAR is out of the question for them! like iranians trying to invest in EL-AL. i am not defend them but they are so narrow minded so they prefer to see OLYMPIC to collapse like SABENA.

Qr Az Lol

Pasta la vista, habibi!

Nope, can't see that one working out at all. AZ unions turned down this week's rescue investment deal because those being made redundant would only get 80% salary for 5 years!! QR wouldn't even give them 8% for 5 minutes.

Don't be so sure about the way the unions will react!
As with Alitalia the main problem the unions have is not only whose losing their job but also who will be running the company!
In OA's case the Greek Government is planning to absorb the redudant personnel in the public sector. I assume non flying personnel!
