777-748 Ccq

I have heard on the grape vine that certain EK people are in the US with Boeing in the process of getting the 747-800 ccqd with the 777.

Could be a shaft for the boeing boys- lots more back of the clock flying with a mixture of freight and pax flying.

If my understanding of the terms is correct, CCQ simply means a reduced amount of training for the convertion, E.G A320-A330/340. To fly both would be a Mixed Fleet qualification, such as our guys flying both A330/A340.

I really don't see it as a shaft, Flash. It would be a nice rating to have (especially if the -800 also covered the -400), and an occastional freight trip would make a nice change.

My main concern would be if we had a fleet of 100+ 777s, and only 10 or 20 747-800s. You would spend a long time never seeing the four-holer, only to be called out on reserve to fly what must be quite a different aeroplane.

Not true. 748 flightdeck to be based on 744 not 777.
For Boeing to go this route would disadvantage all the other (big) 744 operators.
Even EK don't have that kind of pull.

We presently operate the B744 and B777, with the B747-8 on order. Boeing sold the aircraft on the premise that it was the same rating as the 744, but totally different to the 777. They are working with the FAA to have a shortened type rating for 777 crew.

Same goes for the 787, totally different rating to all the others, but 5 day shortened course from 777.

B777 - 748ccq

Boeing should work towards B777-748CCQ.......B744s are solely for the geriatrics!

Hi Fellas

Heard it was true......20crew for the first 747-800 and the rest of the 748's will be slowley crewed by B777 guys as required. It will be a CCQ setup....similar to the 330/340 show.

Just reporting what I have heard
