If you're joining either as an FO, probably quicker command at EK. I take it you would be a contractor at ANA? Has its own problems. Commuting? Forget it at EK, but then perhaps you want to live in?

What put me off was the length of time it took to get the Japanese ATP and the "randomness" of passing the check ride in Japan, plus I found the lifestyle more Western the UAE. Had some friends do the ANA gig and the feedback I got was that they were never accepted in Japan.

Hey KRAPton, what makes you think you'll even get a choice? A tad presumptuous don't you think? ............ You may well (and probably will) fail both selection processes.
However, if you are successful at ANA, do me a favour, could you take a can of blue paint and paint a large 'L' at the end of ANA on the aircraft fin... I could do with a laugh!
