Local ISP with a total monopoly so has all the negative connotations which go with that. ie couldn't give a sh-t attitude to customer service. Connections not too bad off peak but shocking at peak times. Today Friday is the traditional rest day so more home users, fewer businesses online yet this connection has been dropped three times since tried to reply to your post.

Thanks, after I posted my message I got to wondering if you have dial up phone there. I worked there 20 years ago, at the time you had to call and book any call out of country then they called you back when there was a free line.
Is there direct dial international calls yet?
Thanks I'll check out the web site.

A hell of a lot has changed in 20 years. I wouldn't know where to begin telling you. In fact the pace of development is rather hard to keep up with on a daily basis. If you are really interested in the UAE also have a look at www.godubai.com

Dear Magumba,
I have not lived in DXB but am aware of the local customs.
I am sure that there will be internet access, but if you wish to view "sensitive" material, which will be a on a far broader basis than you might imagine, then you will probably need to use a proxy server. I have no doubt that you will easily be able to find out how to do that if you go.
Having said that, "my family and I" would happily live in DXB. Good pub.
