EK Layovers

I thought i'd start a thread that current EK pilots can contribute in regards destination and layover time. Just to give guys that are considering EK in the future some idea of how hard theyre working you and how knackered you end up....

EG) LAX 24hrs 777-200 18hrs sector (just an example i got no idea what its going to be)

Thanks everyone.

Emirates Layover time does not = time away from duties or time in hotel resting.

Emirates layover time is calculated as Engine Shut Down + 30 minutes till Report Time ( Sked departure time less 1 hour)

Further delays are incurred with baggage and customs clearance bus ride and hotel check in. Bus Ride up to 1 hour or more.

Wake up time Often 3 hours before sked departure time with pick up in the bus 2:15 or more before sked departure. You often complete much of your pre flight duties at out station before official sign on.

( Pick up ex Dubai is 2:15 before sked flight departure and your required to be on the crew bus travelling to your aircraft 1:10 minutes before ETD)

Painfully obvious why crew operating the long haul Dubai to IAH Houston with a company layover time of 24:55 are submitting ASR's and reporting insufficient sleep during the ULR duty pattern.

Even more painful is reading the company response week after weekfrom our Flight Safety Department
The duty pattern is currently under review, following a number of similar reports

Rest time - layovers

Probably the bus time in nones fault, there is a solution for that and We wouldn't like it ... Check in, bags, customs, etc. not really the problem ...

For ULR with time zone changes, a 48 hrs proper rest would mitigate fatigue ... that is the solution, end of story.
