Al Ain?

It's right in the middle (East/West) of the United Arab Emiraes - roughly half-way from Abu Dhabi on the Gulf coast and Fujeirah on the Indian Ocean coast. Fairly close to the Southern border of The Emirates with Oman.
Al Ain is roughly the Arabic for "The Water Hole" and that's about its only original claim to fame - probably an oasis where caravans stopped going across the country. I believe it is now a thriving city with Hilton hotel etc.
As for more info, and salaries/costs, I hope someone else out there can help as it's not where I live.
Good Luck

I lived in Al Ain, or to be precise, Buraimi Oasis next door in the Oman. I worked at the UAE Air College at Al Ain Intnl. and sent my kids to school at the English Speaking school. Al Ain is a nice sleepy town with a Hilton, Intercon and another new hotel. Night life etc is at DXB. Great place for young families with mountains and Wadis close by and the best desert driving anywhere.
Cost of villa much less than AUH/DXB prob DHS 70-80k pa gets nice newish villa. In Buraimi, if you have cash in hand, a palace can be had for under DHS 3000 per month. Omanis much nicer and more well adjusted (they actually do their own dirty jobs like taxi driving) tahn UAE nats. They like the Brits much more as we saved Buraimi from the Saudis many years ago.
Reasonable expat comm. centred on hotels and airport.
What job is it ?

Jumper,
Very interesting news as I too will be working in Al Ain, (Air College I think, if that is were thier Mil pilots train.) My application is being processed as we speak, but as you are no doubt aware, things take a little longer than we are used to.
I spent 3 hrs checking out the UAE web-pages, but not to any great success.
