Say "Ciao" to your EK salary increment

Over 500 Alitalia pilots will be put out on the street after the recent sale according to the rumor mill.

Your salary increase letter is being revised at this very moment (probably to 0%) as the recruiting department braces themselves for the flood of desperate applicants from Rome.

Now shall we all face in the direction of the new Group HQ, mournfully strum our guitars and join in a chorus of the Hank Williams classic "You Win Again".

The italian Union says: " about 400 pilots will be laid off" ..and 800 cabin crews.
Let's wait for them with open arms..

They'll have to learn to speak English properly first.....!

From what the recruitment department has seen recently, only about 5 out of the 500 will come up to scratch!!! So don't panic!

Show a bit uv respeck fer us Strine speakers, youse pommie barstewards. Givvuzabreak.

As for the Italians... Benvenuto-caloroso, amici. Those of you who make the journey to the Sandpit will be joining a long list of 'Cameleers' whose previous companies went bust just when EK needed more pilots, from WardAir onwards. And if any EK pilot gives you a hard time about your arrival screwing up his payrise, chances are he came here under very similar circumstances to you and just has a short or selective memory.

Whats wrong with them?
EK needs pilots and they will need jobs. They're well trained and nice chaps, i do not see any problem.
As for a salary increase, EK will try to pull our legs anyway, so relax.
The one thing i am looking forward is that if they hire a bunch of Ginos, they will be in for a surprise. They are used to unionised thinking and organise themselves well. A lot of "stars on their shoulders" will have their handfull training and streamlining them!!
Anyway, benvenuti amici.

What about you?

The world is not a property of the Queen my friend.

So what's the problem..... these guys are human, they didn't chose to be laid off and if they meet the criteria.... they should be given a shot.

Pious= adjective= making a hypocritical display of virtue.

Pom= Noun= Person of Pious nature.......

Now give the rest a break.

Sheesh!!!

I think they are used to high salaries in Euro. I suspect a little simple math with regard to currency exchange will solve this rather quickly.

EK's not the only airline hiring, they will have many choices taylored to their needs and to where their family want to be or are willing to stay. The suit does not fit every one and it's not every one who wants to whear it. Good luck to all of the Alitalia's seeking employment, I beleive there is many alternative out there, and not just in the Middle East.

Berlusconi (sp?) says he will void the AF/KLM buyout offer once he is elected. More money for Italian tax payers to keep afloat. He wants Milan to remain big hub.

Talking good news

Iver,

what you quote is a very good news. If they will find new investors means that not too many Italians will join ek................
And it is good also because there is not enough space for the Italian mafia considering how many other mafias are already developed and spreaded in ek..................

sorry for my English............I hope it is quite understandable...........
