SO in Qatar
Well what can I say, good luck to all who will join.
I can not believe they will hire SO and there are thousands of pilots who have Tuboprop time and will not even spit on them. What is aviation coming to.
I sent my resume the other day and was turned down God help that company.

Don't fret! it happens to the best of us.
Consider it their loss to have enjoyed the benefit of your contribution, someone else will no doubt pick you up in no time!
What's the old saying? Not every disappointment is a misfortune!

Is this cadet scheme opened to everyone? Can a foreginer from Europe or America apply to this cadet programme as well? Or are they expecting local(Arab) people to apply?

Information for some folks out there
CLOSING DATE FOR NEW APPLICATIONS IS BY 20-DEC-2007
According to their website, they want applicants that have done their training with well Known Flight Training School.
No IDEA about what sort of licences they are looking for but I would say they might prefer JAA issued ones.
Nothing was mentioned about hiring local or arabs, so I believe its open for everyone !!! yeeeeeey

Only the standard computer acknowledgement, but nothing from them, and to be honest I would expect to hear from them until Mid next year, but I could be wrong, I just based that assumption on their Second Officer Recruitment back in 2005, which was a very lengthy process.
Good Luck to everyone.

I can think of worst offers, I know a certain airline in the UAE, that pays thier Second Officers ZERO until they aquire 500 Hrs on type, plus you left to find your own accomodation yourself.
As a low houred pilot, it may seem harsh but, you cannot be choosy of how much you get, maybe in 5 yrs time, then you can sit a the negoiating table.
It could be even worse, NO PAY, but PAY THEM US$80 per hour

OK, I must be missing something here. I'll admit that I know little about the company, their policies and their quality of life. However, if you're talking about being a cruise pilot on a long-haul fleet, for $2000 a month, that's pitiful. Who cares if you're housed in a dormitory free of charge? Unless there's some incredible benefit package (like free education for kids, medical for family, etc) that would add another $2k a month to this offer, it's not worth it. And did I read correctly that after 28 years old, they won't hire SO candidates? What's that all about?
If this is such a great offer, are people knocking down their doors to get in? Please enlighten me. I'm not bashing anyone here, but I don't get the fact that anyone would be willing to fly long-haul for what a poor turboprop probationary FO makes (and that's ridiculously low). At least there you're logging SIC time and learning some flying skills.
Good luck if you're happy doing this.
Oh, and OMD, those aren't even "offers". Have some cohones man. I'm assuming you're a PROFESSIONAL PILOT. Why would anyone sell themselves out for what you've mentioned here? Is this the SHINY JET SYNDROME dream again? sad.....
