Successful applicants will be paid a salary of QAR 9000 (approx USD 2465) as a Cadet Pilot / Second Officer and be provided with Company housing, on a shared basis, or an allowance of QAR 6,000 per month in lieu of housing.
ummm FOs flying 320s at AirBlue get $3000...then there are taxs n stuff
$2400 for a 2nd officer isnt THAT bad
and then the site says
A First Officer in Qatar Airways will earn an all inclusive average monthly remuneration package of approximately QAR 36,100 (approx USD 9900) inclusive of housing and other allowances.
so cant see what all the complaining is about...you wont be staying a 2nd officer the entire time your there...or are you

EL LOBO SOLO
I totally respect your opinion, but what I will NOT do is get into a debate on my personal opinion.
If you feel QR is a bad deal then its simple, DON'T APPLY!!, if you do then you are being selfish, by that I mean, say they call you forward and in reality you don't want the job because they are not paying you $8000 per month, somebody who wants the job wouldn't even get an interview because you have taken up the space.
With all due respect, with your attitude, it wouldn't suprise me in two years, you will be making the same comments on this forum, and in comparison I would have more jet hours than, and will be on a larger salary. and you my friend wouldn't have kicked start your career, as I siad I am no longer going to reply in this thread unless its beneficial to everyone else.
I really wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect dream airline. You may want to look at Emirates..........oh wait they require 4000 TT before you begin.

Qatar Airways
Just recieved an e-mail from a friend that work for Qatar Airways telling me about the second officer programm they are strating for 2008.
He mentioned that they are starting to do a scheme like the way Cathay Pacific is doing and looking for pilots around 1000 total time, still employed by a flying company, current, and under age 30. He also said they have recived a tons of application at the moment.
I don't know how specific they are about the requirments, but I would say everybody with a commercial pilot license should apply.
Good luck

Fair enough. All the kids with a newly minted commercial license and 1000 hours should apply here. "Jumpstart" your career all you want. How exactly do you log that time to get to 4000 hours and make a decent salary?
Oh, and I've already got more jet time than you, OMD.
Nothing personal, I just think that pilots should be paid like the professionals they are. Maybe, someday you'll agree.

i read the threads here and i have to say i have heard and seen people j
oining QR as second officer handling the aircraft after a few jump seat
sectors then after the program usual 6-9 months depending what fleet are
promoted to F/O!!!! so maybe some dont believe it or what ever but to
those out there willing to take a chance ir-regardless of pay then do it
cause lets face it how many jobs out there give low time pilot a chance
to fly new aircraft with various routes and get some what decent pay>>
everyone wnats to build hours so why not.
The best thing to do is call QR and ask them how it works (process) and see

Living conditions
What's the std of living like in Doha? I imagine that 2000/month wouldn;t go to far down there. What about for FO's....is $9000 a decent enough wage for living expenses and some savings?
I'm interested to find out.

I'm ready to be shot down here.
However, if QR was to employ a scheme similar to CX, then I can understand FP-ace's argument as CX SO's spend their time in the Jumpseat which can run to 3 years or thereabouts. CX SO's have a specific relief duty on long haul flights and they gather experience from that seat. When their time comes, they upgrade to the RHS (any CX people out there to confirm all this?).
However, here the SO programme has SO's training in the RHS and converting to FO quite quickly. They do not operate on long haul flights as relief. They do short haul flying from 10K to 10K in 320's.
IMHO, QR would be smart to use SO's the way CX does (if I have it right) thus giving newbies some decent airline operational experience.

why put this question on 2 threads, we do read more than one you know.
at this time I would normally tell you to use the SEARCH function as this topic has been covered hundreds of times.
So i'll just say.. do NOT expect an upgrade before 5 to 6 years to be very realistic and if you have 1 minute short of the 'present' 5000hrs TT then you will not be selected for the command interview either.
yes I know they tell everyone 3 years. With all good intentions they wish it could be that way but it's NOT
