Help ME! Best Middle East Carrier?
Hello Everyone! It's great being able to speak with you. I am currently a first officer working at a famous regional jet carrier in the USA. I have 4000 TT, 2300 jet and a university degree in engineering. Last year, I interviewed with Cathay in HKG but I didn't make it Do you know which Middle Eastern airline is best? Emirates, Etihad, etc.?
My measuring points are the following:
1. Penison (Do any of them offer a pension...or which one has the best retirement package).
2. Work rules (not being overworked, scheduling, etc.).
3. Training program (is the training excellent or does the airline just hand you a manual, expect for you to learn everything yourself and yell at you if you fail at something)?
4. Pay scale.
5. Future (will this airline be in good shape 25 years down the road)?
6. Politics (i.e., company and upgrade politics, I don't like politics).
7. Everything else (what other factors can you think of).
As for living in the Middle East, it won't be a problem for me.
Please give me your advise.

6. Suicidal roads, the heat. Your choice. But don't get fooled by the shiny jets and glitzy presentations.

Don't forget Gulf Air. We may be small but somtimes smaller is better!!!
Reagarding your questions:
1) No pension only indemnitiy when you leave
2) Pretty hard work especially on the mini-bus
3) Very good standard of training with good instructors
4) Pay is up with all the other carriers but it is cheaper to live in Bahrain
5) Future??? We hope it starts looking better. I guess that will happen once we place an aircraft order then the future will look much brighter
6) Less politics than the other carriers

Since some of you are telling aviationluver to stay home and not come here to the Mid East, you might as well tell him not to buy that new car he's been wanting back home, no going to eat out, only home made meals, if you're married with kids, don't send them to a public school and if you haven't got kids, good idea to divorce your wife now.
Anything more you want to tell the guy, since you know best.
