Lightbulb Consolidation in the Gulf?

So, it seems that we will see a major merger between airlines in the US. Delta and United seem to be "talking". Also, in Mexico, Mexicana and Aeromexico complain that they are now holding just 50% of the market (they were denied merger by the authorities). As the world turns, and amazed at the orders from the Gulf region, any chance that we could see one day EY and EK merging?
They are both in the UAE, and it would probably be in the best interest of both, bringing Emirates success and expansion to Abu Dhabi, and most important, making money!!!
Any thoughts?

the UAE is comprised of 7 Emirates with different ruling families ...not likely the airlines will ever unite in the near future, as long as money is readily available as it is now...when the money situation changes, you may very well see this become a possibility...stranger things have happened
