Five new A330 aircraft for Oman Air
MUSCAT — Oman Air has signed a firm contract with Airbus for five new aircraft from the A330 family. Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki, minister of national economy and deputy chairman of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and chairman of Oman Air, signed the agreement in the presence of officials.
The order is for three A330-300s and two A330-200s with no engine choice being made.
The aircraft will provide additional capacity on Oman Air’s regional and international routes from the airlines’ base in the Sultanate of Oman to Europe and the Far East. Oman Air said the decision was based on the aircraft’s operational efficiency and its leading standards of passenger comfort.
“Our decision to buy the Airbus A330 all came down to the suitability of the aircraft with our long term strategy to operate an efficient and reliable fleet with proven operating costs. We also wanted to our customers with an aircraft which has the most modern and comfortable cabin environment in its class”, said Ziad Al Haremi, CEO of Oman Air.
“The A330 is the aircraft of choice for many operators, and we are delighted Oman Air is one of these.
The A330 will help Oman Air in their plans to expand it’s services and it will help them do it using the aircraft with the lowest operating costs in its class and excellent flexibility for a wide range of routes structures”, said John Leahy, COO customers.

Hi guys,
Based on the article on flight global, delivery should start in 2009, however this is an old order. I think they just wanted to make it public at the Dubai airshow.
Wish Wisky Yankee all the best!!! Open ur Minds Beyond!!! "The Mind Is a teribble thing to waste" Gud luck as your wheels touch down in LGW on the 27th......)))))

Oman Air will fly A330 and B787 after flying F27 & ATR 42 & B737NG, at lest it is going ahead, but the worst thing is when you fly A330 &A340 then you go and get a used B737 or a used A320 from RJ.

FADAC, what r u jealous, that u left Oman Air and found out the changes.. and u went 2 GF and nothing is going new there and might be closed specially aft they gave Bahrain Air the right 2 operate ..
so i guess good luck
even if they put F27 engines, it will still be called A330 and new.. not the one with tap holding its part as A320
good luck and keep smiling

Interim equipment?
What is WY using as interim equipment, until the 330s arrive; I had thought it would be A310s, which had been mentioned, but Flight International seems to think it is 767(s).
Any confirmation?

INCHS and Alraisia,
First of all this not the place for your racist remarks and would suggest to both of you to take it to bahja or Shati, i have tried both your native foods and found them out of this world,
I guess both of you are Omanies from the colonies(East Africa and Gawader) and proud of your orgins therefore instead of playing an one upmanship match in the pages of PPRuNe,both of you should support your national carrier.
INCHS,
It is not calld Pabblo but Baplo and you should try it some times.
Alraisia,
MANDAZI is one of the testies food i have tried in my life,it is not going to harm you if you try it once.
FADAC,
Where are you when we need you?
Good night you all.
