Pilot Proficiency Check Requirements at EK
Hi Fellas, I'll be joining EK shortly. My PPC is valid now, but will expire only 3 days before my joining date (6 months, but if extended to 8, it will still be valid at the time of joining). I should also add that I resigned 2 months ago. How will this affect my joining, given that the validity of my PPC is a training requirement at EK, and I have no chance of attending a sim between now and then. Any input on the matter is greatly appreciated. Shaboom.

Hi Shaboom,
My understanding is that they (EK) want you to be current at time of joining....let me explain. Time of joining means that you have passed the selection process and have been given your joining instructions. You don't need to be current on your join date as you will be retrained on an EK aircraft. What I understand by the current in check is that EK don't want to employ someone who has been out of flying practise. You need do nothing but come along and enjoy your honemoon period here. My PPC expired before I joined, but was current at the interview and never was even looked at as an issue when I joined.
Hope that helps, welcome to the pit!

Ah, thanks a lot, critical winge and everyone else for your inputs.
I was totally confused by the PPC requirement, since I knew they would re-train us the EK way anyway, But where I am now, it is virtually impossible to get into the seat of an airplane once you're out of an airline, and I resigned from mine a while back. For a second there I though I had lost it all!!
Anyhow, once again thanks guys. Fly safe. See you soon, Inshallah ('think I got it right)!
