One announcement that I actually DID hear today - although probably nothing to do with this thread - is that the Middle East will need to find 8000 pilots over the next few years to cater for the expansions of the mega carriers in the region (EK / EY / QR) and also to cater for DAE expansion plans into and beyond the leasing market!!!
8000 people is a LOTTA people. However will they do it?

Finding the pilots will be the least of their problems.
Finding the punters to fill those planes or finding the bankers for the refinancing or finding the lawyers to help out with the eventuall bankruptcy proceedings may end up being more of the problem.

Most likely to do with the appointment of Björn Näf as CEO (already announced in Swiss financial newspaper "Cash"). Ex-SR pilot Christoph Cain to be installed as Head of Ops, and Paolo Fitze as Head of Security. All Swiss buddies.
In an interview in today's edition of "Cash", Näf said he would pursue a strategy of growth and expand the fleet.

Oh, I thought is was a cermonial removal of the Oman flags from the flagposts around HDQ. Confirmed PCE? Cannot find anything on www.cash.ch other than the July-07 annoucement of BN taking over from AD. Anyone care to publish the article proclaiming his confirmation? (Other than the GDN last week where the Chairman left little to read betwen the lines on this matter)

Cool it, Togalk. That is not what he said.
Anyway, PF is slated to join as the Weepy for Safety, and not in the Security deptt.
Reminds me of the joke:
Who are the two perfect room mates?
Gerald Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzgerald !
Have fun!

I 've got a question for you. In your opinion what's the difference between a 3rd world pilot and another one from your well developed country? Just for your info, I had two sim supports last month. One I was supporting one brazilian DEC. The guy did a wonderful job with a perfect CRM and scored 5. The other one, from Ethiopia, was doing one of his lofts for upgrade. Scored 5 as well. So mate, what's your point?

....good luck!
