Electrical appliance conversion in Dubai
Hey Guys,
This is a quite mundane question but I must ask it. Is it worth bringing electrical appliances over from the States? Is there any conversion method? Or should I just buy in Dubai?
confused minds want to know!!! Thanks

Fridge? Stove? Microwave? Entertainment stuff? Hammer Drill? really depends on the power requirements of the appliance. You will NEED a transformer for each appliance to change the 240v to 120v. They are big, bulky and ugly. If you have a thing for the appliances that you already have, bring them. New stuff isn't too bad priced here, and if you are keen you can usually find an expat that is leaving and selling all their gear. But ditch the stuff that you could care less for. If you are going to rent you will could end up in a place that if fully outfitted anyhow. OF course, bring your power tools.... you never know when you will need to cut something up and then drill a hole in it.

I would say, don't bother bringing any thing from the states. Buy new stuff from local market. In the UAE, power system is purley English; different voltage (220v), different frequency (50HZ) and also different outlets.
