Cool Blocking the Sun

Question

Recently I have had a number of flights during Day light hours. My side was missing the Sun Visor ( Airbus types ) and further more missing the retractable shades, (yah yah , somewhat blamed on lack of parts, I say WHAT THE F**K EVER MR. ENGINEER). Since we are furnished with those fantastic N efficient Sun shades that we use on the ground, I beg to ask,
(Drum roll please).......CAN THEY BE USED IN FLIGHT ONCE IN CRUISE?

my concern is that the Windshield are high output powered while in flight, Can this cause a short or a over heating situation?

Take it away folks......
